Exterior—Wheel Hubs

Official company photograph of the 1924 Kissel
Model 6-55 Speedster

WHEEL HUBS: The exterior condition of the hubs before (left) and after (right) the reconditioning.

Lynn disassembles, cleans, lubricates, replaces missing springs, polishes and paints all six wheel hubs. The hubs are threaded differently on the left-hand and right-hand sides of the car, to help prevent loosening of the hubs from the forward motion of the car.

Lynn makes an interesting discovery. The spare tire carriers are each mounted on the WRONG side of the car. The wheel nuts are threaded differently for the left-hand and right-hand sides of the car, and the spare tire carriers have been reversed. Being the kind of maniac that he is, Lynn spends a Saturday afternoon correcting this error.
